Director, writer and editor from Lisbon.
My first practical contact with cinema was through the “Filmmaking - Short Course” summer course I took at Catalyst - Institute for Creative Arts and Technology. In that course I produced and directed my first short-film “ceilings”.
At the moment, I am in the middle of the 2nd year of the “Cinema and Television Higher Nationals” cause at ETIC (School of Technologies Innovation and Creation). In the 1st year I produced and directed my second short-film “kintsugi”, which entered in 4 film festivals in Portugal. Since then I have been involved in other projects, such as the documentary “Fibras de Aço” about the bodybuilder Eduardo Duarte. In February I began producing and directing extra-curricular projects, having some already in pre-production.
I believe in cinema as a subversive art form. As such, I always try to find a layer of meaning and purpose in every element of my projects -something that needs to be said. I look for inspiration beyond the cinema universe, finding it in other art forms like photography, paintings and music.
I am in constantly exploring other art forms to integrate them as the object of my own art. My biggest artistic inspirations are Robert Mapplethorpe, David Bowie, Stephen Sondheim, Julien Baker.
For me cinema is not a linear art form. It is a world of opportunities where I can explore the best way to communicate, through image, sound and sensations, what I want and have to say.
